Introduction
- The Anatomy Department at Sree Mookambika College of Nursing is dedicated to providing nursing students with a comprehensive understanding of human anatomy. As the study of the structure of organisms and their parts, anatomy is essential for nurses, as it helps them understand the physical framework of the human body, which is critical in delivering effective patient care. This foundational knowledge allows nurses to assess and manage patient conditions, recognize anatomical changes, and support patients in regaining their health.
Goal
To equip students with in-depth knowledge of the human body’s normal structure and its functions, fostering a solid anatomical foundation for nursing practice.
Objectives
- Understanding of Normal Anatomy: To ensure students grasp the normal structural aspects of the human body, enabling them to relate this knowledge to patient care.
- Recognition of Alterations: To help students identify anatomical changes due to disease, enhancing their diagnostic and clinical skills.
- Application in Nursing Practice: To integrate anatomical knowledge into practical nursing scenarios, improving patient care outcomes.
Anatomy Lab Facilities
The Anatomy lab is fully equipped to support hands-on learning and interactive demonstrations. Key facilities include:
- Adult Human Skeleton: Articulated skeleton for full structural study.
- Skull Models: Detailed adult skulls to understand cranial structure and function.
- Disarticulated Skeleton Sets: Individual bones to help students learn about each part separately, facilitating a detailed study of human anatomy.
Learning Hours
The Anatomy course is structured to provide ample time for theoretical and practical understanding:
- B.Sc. Nursing: 60 hours
- Diploma in General Nursing and Midwifery (DGNM): 90 hours
Lab Environment
The Anatomy lab is designed to foster an engaging learning experience. The lab is spacious, well-lit, and organized to encourage hands-on exploration, enabling students to solidify their anatomical knowledge through demonstrations and guided practice sessions. With access to these resources, students gain practical insights that bridge theoretical knowledge with clinical application.
The Anatomy Department at Sree Mookambika College of Nursing provides a solid anatomical foundation essential for the nursing profession. Through structured lab sessions and comprehensive anatomical models, students acquire the knowledge and confidence needed to excel in patient care.
