The following rules and regulations are established to maintain a respectful, safe, and orderly environment within the hostel at Sree Mookambika College of Nursing. All students residing in the hostel are expected to adhere to these guidelines strictly.
Light and Fan Usage
- Rooms are equipped with lights and fans for convenience. Inmates must switch off these appliances when leaving the room. Lights should not be used during designated sleeping hours. Any misuse will result in a fine for all occupants of the room, regardless of who was responsible.
- Electrical Restrictions: Additional electrical fittings are strictly prohibited.
Food and Mess Protocol
- No Room Service: Meals or extras will not be delivered to hostel rooms.
- Mess Utensils: Under no circumstances should food cups, saucers, tumblers, davaras, or other utensils from the hostel mess be taken to the rooms.
Monthly Dues
- Payment Deadline: The list of monthly dues will be posted on the notice board by the 5th of every month. Payments must be made by the 10th. Failure to do so will incur a late fee of Rs. 10 per day.
Medical Aid
- On-Site Medical Assistance: Minor ailments will be treated by the college medical officer. Students requiring further medical attention will be transferred to the college hospital.
- 24-Hour Limit: Sick inmates should not remain in the hostel for more than 24 hours without seeking additional care at the college hospital.
General Discipline
Room Cleanliness
- Inmates are responsible for keeping their rooms tidy. Personal items, discarded rags, and papers should not be left around the room, terrace, or hostel premises.
- Writing on or damaging furniture, doors, or walls, as well as posting handbills or posters, is strictly prohibited.

- Inmates should avoid loud behavior that may disturb others, especially during study hours. Singing, dancing, and other disruptive activities are not permitted in residential quarters without the Director’s express permission.
c)Â Curfew
- All hostel residents must be in their designated hostels by the allotted time. Prior permission from the warden is required if an inmate is unable to meet this curfew.
d)Â Use of Assigned Room and Furniture
- Inmates must use only the bed, furniture, and room assigned to them. Combined study with others is only allowed with prior permission from the Director.
e)Â Damage to Property
- Any damage to hostel property should be reported to the warden immediately. If the responsible individual cannot be identified, all members of the affected area may be held accountable. Severe damages will result in fines.
f)Â Meetings and Gatherings
- Inmates may not organize or hold meetings within the hostel premises without written permission from the warden.
g)Â Circulars and Subscriptions
- No circulars or subscription lists may be circulated without the Director’s approval.
h)Â Prohibition on Political Activities
- Participation in political meetings or processions is strictly prohibited. Engaging in political activities may result in immediate expulsion from the hostel.
i)Â Treatment of Staff
- Hostel staff should be treated with respect. Inmates are prohibited from ill-treating staff or engaging in unauthorized interactions with them.
j)Â Disciplinary Actions
- Violations of hostel rules may result in fines, suspension, or dismissal from the hostel.
k)Â Dues Before Leaving
- All dues must be cleared before leaving for vacations or at the end of the academic year. Inmates are advised not to leave valuables or cash in their rooms, as the hostel management is not responsible for lost items.
Emergency Leave Protocol
- Home Visits: Students may not leave the hostel based on telephone messages. In emergencies, the warden will decide if a home visit is necessary based on the situation’s severity.
Study and Silence Requirements
- Compulsory Night Study: Silence must be maintained during study hours to ensure a conducive learning environment for all.
Valuables and Security
- No Valuables in Hostel: Students are advised against keeping valuables in the hostel. The college and hostel management are not responsible for the loss of any valuables.
Visitor Policy
- Visitor’s Day: Sundays from 2:00 PM to 6:00 PM are designated as visitor hours. Only parents and ID holders are allowed to meet students.
- Visitor Restrictions: Visitors are not permitted to enter the hostel, including the ladies’ section, without prior permission.
Leave of Absence
- Leave Authorization: Students must submit a letter to the warden before leaving the hostel premises.
Prohibited Actions
- Wall Decorations: Pasting pictures or nailing items onto hostel room walls is prohibited.
- Waste Disposal: Sanitary pads, food waste, and other inappropriate items should not be disposed of in closets or drains.
- Water Conservation: Students must ensure taps are turned off before leaving their rooms to prevent water wastage.
Health and Shopping Policy
- Reporting Illness: If a student falls ill, they must notify the warden immediately for appropriate medical attention.
- Shopping Guidelines: Students’ shopping needs will be managed and scheduled by the Director or Administrative Officer.
Food Waste and Responsibility
- Avoiding Food Waste: Students are expected to minimize food waste. Those found wasting food may face disciplinary actions.
Monthly Home Visits
- Monthly Visits: Students are permitted to go home only once per month, and only with the supervision of parents or guardians.
Attendance Requirement
- Mandatory Attendance: In line with university and INC norms, students must achieve at least 80% attendance each academic year, from October 1 to September 31, including theoretical and practical sessions.
Visitor’s Book
- A visitor’s book will be maintained in both the hostel and college office to monitor and document all visitor activities.
