Library Utilization and Schedule

  • The institution provides a dedicated time slot for library use. Each day, from 4:00 pm to 5:00 pm, students are scheduled to be in the library for reference and study purposes, promoting a habit of consistent learning and research. This arrangement is designed to give students the necessary time to enhance their knowledge and deepen their understanding of their subjects.

    The Librarian will issue books to students for a period of three days, after which students must renew their books if they need them for an extended period.

Governing Body of the Library Committee

    • Chairman: Oversees the overall functioning and policies of the library.
    • Secretary/Convenor: Manages the daily operations, coordinates committee activities, and ensures policies are implemented.
    • Members: Include faculty and student representatives who work together to enhance library services and address any issues.

    The committee comprises:

    • Faculty Staff: Faculty members who guide students on how to utilize the library resources effectively for their studies and research.
    • Student Representatives: Act as liaisons, providing feedback to improve library services and ensuring compliance with library rules among students.

Library Rules and Regulations

    • To maintain a structured, respectful, and resourceful library environment, the following general rules apply:

      1. Identity Card Requirement: An identity card is mandatory for all enrolled students to access library facilities.
      2. Issuance of Identity Cards: Identity cards are issued by the librarian upon the presentation of admission receipts and a passport-sized photograph.
      3. Disciplinary Action for Misuse: Misbehavior or misuse of the identity card is considered an offense. Students found responsible will face disciplinary actions as per the college’s policies.
      4. Borrowing Privileges: Students can borrow textbooks, journals, and sets of past question papers using their identity card, fostering academic preparation and comprehensive study.
      5. Return of Study Materials: Any materials borrowed in the study room must be returned before the student leaves the room, ensuring resources are available for others and promoting a shared learning environment.

    • The Library Committee’s responsibilities include:

      • Handling Student Feedback: Addressing student feedback on library resources, operational hours, or services, continuously improving library facilities to better meet student needs.

      The Library Committee at Sree Mookambika College of Nursing plays an essential role in managing and enhancing library services, encouraging students to make full use of this academic resource to support their studies and growth in the field of nursing.
