Absence and Leave Policy

The following guidelines outline the procedures and responsibilities concerning student absence and leave. Adherence to these policies is essential for maintaining academic integrity and ensuring proper communication between students and the administration.

Application for Leave

  • Leave Form Requirement: Every request for leave must be submitted using the prescribed leave application form. This ensures a standardized process for tracking and approving leave.

Emergency Leave During Class Hours

  • Permission for Sudden Absence: If a student needs to leave class due to a sudden illness or other emergency, they must obtain permission from the Head of the Department (HOD) and the Principal before leaving.

Medical Leave

  • Reporting Illness: Students who become ill and require leave should promptly inform the Academic In-charge.
  • Doctor’s Certificate: A medical certificate from the treating physician must accompany the leave application submitted to the Director. This certificate should verify the illness and the need for rest or treatment.
  • Inpatient Treatment: Students requiring inpatient care will be admitted to the college hospital’s sick room or directed to the hostel, based on the recommendation of the medical staff and the institution’s policies.

Consequences of Unauthorized Absence

  • Penalty for Absence Without Leave: Absences without prior approval will result not only in the loss of attendance for the missed days but may also lead to disciplinary actions, including fines.

Extended Absence Policy

    • Extended Absence Without Explanation: A student who is absent from college for more than fifteen consecutive working days without a valid and satisfactory explanation may have their name removed from the college rolls, thereby forfeiting their enrollment status.

These absence and leave policies at Sree Mookambika College of Nursing are designed to maintain academic continuity, ensure proper attendance, and provide a framework for addressing student health needs responsibly. Compliance with these guidelines is mandatory and helps maintain a well-regulated academic environment.
