The department is equipped with a state-of-the-art orthopedic operation theatre with laminar airflow, capable of performing emergency trauma surgeries 24×7, arthroscopy, arthroplasty, deformity correction, complex reconstructive procedures, and total knee and hip replacements. Specialty outpatient clinics include Backache, Arthroscopy, Knee & Hip, Pediatric Orthopedics, and Deformity Correction (for CTEV, scoliosis, etc.). Trauma care is delivered using the latest implants, modern technology, and minimally invasive techniques to ensure optimal recovery and functional outcomes. The national conference IOACON 2024 was attended by the majority of our faculty and junior residents.
TNOACON 2024 was also attended by most faculty members and junior residents.
Paper and poster presentations were delivered by both junior residents and faculty in TNOACON and IOACON 2024.
Various orthopaedic workshops conducted at TVMCH were actively attended by faculty and junior residents.

Outpatient Department (OPD)
The Orthopaedics Outpatient Department (OPD) provides comprehensive consultation, clinical evaluation, treatment planning, and follow-up care for patients with musculoskeletal disorders including fractures, joint diseases, sports injuries, and spine conditions.
The OPD is supported by dedicated facilities including a Plaster Room for fracture immobilization, a Plaster Cutting Room for cast removal, and a Minor Operation Theatre for minor surgical procedures and wound management. These facilities ensure efficient patient care, timely procedures, and smooth postoperative follow-up for orthopedic patients.
Inpatient Services:
The department has 60 beds providing inpatient care for trauma patients, elective surgeries, and postoperative rehabilitation.

The department works in close coordination with Neurosurgery and other critical care specialties for the management of complex polytrauma patients, particularly those with associated head injuries, spinal trauma, and multiple system injuries. This multidisciplinary approach ensures timely intervention, comprehensive care, and improved patient outcomes.
