The Department of General Surgery at Sree Mookambika Institute of Medical Sciences (SMIMS) provides comprehensive surgical care covering a wide range of conditions including gastrointestinal diseases, cancer surgery, breast surgery, thyroid and endocrine disorders, vascular diseases, trauma, and emergency surgical conditions.The department performs major abdominal surgeries, advanced head and neck cancer surgeries, reconstructive procedures, and minimally invasive laparoscopic surgeries. Outpatient Department (OPD)
The surgical OPD consists of multiple consultation rooms along with dedicated dressing rooms and a fully equipped Minor Operation Theatre (MOT) where a variety of minor surgical procedures are performed under strict aseptic conditions.
Major Operation Theatre Complex
The department functions from a modern OT complex equipped with advanced surgical instruments and modern anesthesia facilities, enabling safe performance of major surgical procedures including laparoscopic and oncological surgeries.
Surgical Wards
Separate male and female surgical wards provide comfortable inpatient care with continuous monitoring and nursing support. Demonstration rooms are available within the wards to facilitate bedside teaching and clinical discussions for students.

The department is equipped with dedicated upper and lower gastrointestinal endoscopy units for both diagnostic and therapeutic procedures.
