Admission Process:
- All students must qualify in the respective National Eligibility Entrance Test (NEET-UG for MBBS and NEET-PG for postgraduate courses) and obtain admission only through the Government of Tamil Nadu Selection Committee, Directorate of Medical Education and Research, Chennai.
- Admissions are carried out strictly in accordance with the regulations of the National Medical Commission (NMC) and the Government of Tamil Nadu through the centralized counselling process conducted by the Tamil Nadu Selection Committee.
Documents Required at the Time of Admission
Students allotted to SMIMS must report with the following original documents along with photocopies:
- NEET Admit Card and NEET Score Card
- Allotment Order issued by the Selection Committee
- 10th Standard Mark Sheet (Proof of Date of Birth)
- Higher Secondary (+2) Mark Sheet / Equivalent Certificate
- Transfer Certificate from the institution last studied
- Migration Certificate (for students from CBSE / ICSE / Kerala or other boards)
- Conduct Certificate from the last institution studied
- Community Certificate (if applicable)
- Nativity Certificate / Domicile Certificate (for State Quota candidates)
- Aadhaar Card copy or Passport copy
- Eligibility Certificate from The Tamil Nadu Dr. M.G.R. Medical University, Chennai

MBBS – Bachelor of Medicine & Bachelor of Surgery
The MBBS program at Sree Mookambika Institute of Medical Sciences (SMIMS) is conducted in accordance with the Competency Based Medical Education (CBME) curriculum prescribed by the National Medical Commission (NMC). The program focuses on developing graduates who are clinically competent, ethically responsible, and socially accountable.
The curriculum emphasizes integrated learning, early clinical exposure, teamwork, scientific enquiry, and lifelong learning, enabling students to develop the knowledge, skills, and professional attitude required for effective medical practice. Students are trained through a combination of classroom teaching, skill-based learning, clinical postings, simulation training, and community health exposure, preparing them to serve both hospital and community healthcare needs.

5.5 Years

Eligibility & Admission:
Admission to the MBBS program is governed by the regulations of the National Medical Commission (NMC) and the Government of Tamil Nadu.
All candidates must qualify in the National Eligibility Entrance Test (NEET-UG) and obtain admission through the Tamil Nadu Selection Committee, Directorate of Medical Education and Research, Chennai.
Candidates who do not meet the prescribed eligibility criteria at any stage of admission will have their candidature cancelled.
Eligibility Criteria
Academic Qualification:
Candidates must have successfully completed Higher Secondary (10+2) or equivalent examination from a recognized board.
Subjects Studied:
Candidates must have studied Physics, Chemistry, and Biology/Biotechnology in their higher secondary education.
Minimum Marks Required
General Category: Minimum 50% marks in Physics, Chemistry, and Biology
SC/ST/OBC Categories: Minimum 40% marks in Physics, Chemistry, and Biology
Age Requirement
Candidates must have completed 17 years of age at the time of admission as per NMC regulations.

Upon successful completion of the academic program, students must undergo a one-year Compulsory Rotatory Residential Internship (CRRI) with training in various clinical departments.
Graduates who successfully complete the course and internship are awarded the MBBS Degree by The Tamil Nadu Dr. M.G.R. Medical University, Chennai.
