The centre is equipped with state-of-the-art technology, including a Varian Linear Accelerator (LINAC) that enables highly precise radiotherapy techniques, brachytherapy for targeted internal radiation, and advanced radiation planning that maximizes tumor control while minimizing damage to surrounding healthy tissues.To ensure accurate diagnosis and effective treatment planning, the centre houses a fully functional Nuclear Medicine Department with PET-CT and gamma camera imaging facilities, allowing for early detection, precise staging, and continuous monitoring of cancer. A dedicated 30-bedded day-care chemotherapy unit offers safe, comfortable, and efficient administration of chemotherapy, supported by trained oncology nurses and strict safety protocols. The specialised surgical oncology team performs a wide range of complex cancer surgeries with a strong focus on organ preservation, faster recovery, and improved quality of life. SMCC is a regional pioneer, being the first centre to introduce Radioiodine Therapy and 3D Conformal Radiation Therapy (3D-CRT), significantly enhancing treatment options for thyroid and other cancers. The centre follows a multidisciplinary tumour board approach, where oncologists from different specialties collaborate to design personalised, evidence-based treatment plans for every patient. Alongside clinical excellence, strong emphasis is placed on supportive services including counselling, nutrition guidance, pain management, and palliative care, ensuring holistic healing that addresses physical, emotional, and psychosocial needs. Ours is a team of experienced oncologists armed with world class infrastructure who offer chemotherapy treatment for a wide variety of solid tumors. Patients receive day care chemotherapy in the security of Hepa filtered pressure control rooms with strict asepsis control where the chemo drugs are reconstituted in a dedicated Biological Safety cabinet under Laminar hood. The Hospital is also equipped with ICU facility for managing patients with chemotherapy related side effects.
