During Breast Cancer Awareness Month, Sree Mookambika Institute of Medical Sciences conducted a wide range of awareness, screening, and community outreach activities, creating a significant public health impact. A 31-day digital awareness drive was carried out through daily videos, reaching over 7.8 million views online. The campus was illuminated in pink with a Pink Ribbon installation, symbolizing solidarity in the fight against breast cancer. Seven free breast cancer screening camps were organized, benefiting 1,065 women, while awareness campaigns were conducted across seven colleges (2,307 participants), two schools (536 participants), and community programs benefiting 323 people. Throughout the month, free mammogram services were provided for 30 days, benefiting 144 women. The initiative also included a Pink Pledge led by cancer warriors and supporters (1,277 participants) and Pink Pledge Certificates issued digitally to 1,431 participants. A Pink Walkathon – United for Hope saw 650 participants, and a Flash Mob on Breast Cancer Awareness engaged over 400–550 participants. The campaign further featured India’s first AI-generated breast cancer awareness video, along with inspiring events such as the “Dance of Hope” (1,277 participants) and the “Light of Hope” ceremony organized by SMCC with 400 participants.
Through these collective efforts, the initiative created a powerful movement for awareness, early detection, and community engagement, and the campaign was recognized by both the India Book of Records and the Asia Book of Records for conducting one of the largest Breast Cancer Awareness Drives by an Educational Institution.
