Since its inception in 1999 and the establishment of its postgraduate programme in 2010, the department has evolved into a highly specialised unit offering comprehensive management of malocclusion and dentofacial abnormalities in both growing and adult patients. Equipped with modern clinical and laboratory facilities, the department delivers a full range of orthodontic services including removable, fixed, functional, surgical and contemporary appliance systems, esthetic options including clear aligners . With dedicated UG and PG clinical sections, well-structured academic programmes and a team-driven clinical environment, the department strives to refine facial aesthetics, promote optimal occlusal function and enhance overall orofacial well-being. ADVANCED TREATMENT & APPLIANCE FABRICATION SERVICES
A comprehensive range of contemporary orthodontic treatments is provided, including clear aligner therapy, removable and fixed appliances, habit-breaking devices, myofunctional therapy, TAD-assisted mechanics, and surgical orthodontic procedures. With modern clinical infrastructure and precision-based laboratory support, the department ensures accurate diagnosis, efficient appliance fabrication, and high-quality patient care.

1. SPECIALITY SERVICES
The department offers a comprehensive curriculum for both undergraduate and postgraduate students, focusing on preventive, interceptive, corrective, and surgical orthodontic treatments. Teaching methods include:
- Clear Aligner Therapy for aesthetic and minimally visible orthodontic correction
- Lingual Orthodontics for completely hidden fixed appliance treatment
- Myofunctional and Growth Modulation Therapy for developing skeletal discrepancies
- Surgical Orthodontics in coordination with maxillofacial surgery for complex dentofacial deformities
- Interdisciplinary Orthodontic Care in collaboration with Periodontics, Prosthodontics and Oral Surgery
- Early Interceptive Orthodontic Treatment for developing malocclusions in children
- Management of Cleft Lip and Palate Patients as part of a multidisciplinary team
- TAD Supported Orthodontics (Temporary Anchorage Devices) for advanced anchorage control
- Habit Breaking Therapy for thumb sucking, tongue thrusting and other oral habits
- Digital Orthodontics including digital impressions, cephalometric analysis and treatment planning
2. PROCEDURE
The Department of Orthodontics and Dentofacial Orthopaedics performs a comprehensive range of diagnostic and therapeutic procedures to support effective management of malocclusion and dentofacial discrepancies. Key diagnostic procedures include clinical orthodontic assessment, cephalometric analysis, digital model analysis, photographic documentation, and radiographic evaluation using OPG and lateral cephalograms for accurate treatment planning.
Therapeutic procedures include removable and fixed orthodontic appliance therapy, myofunctional and growth modification treatment in growing patients, clear aligner therapy, and lingual orthodontics for aesthetic correction. The department also undertakes surgical orthodontic procedures in coordination with oral and maxillofacial surgeons for the management of complex skeletal deformities. Additional procedures include habit-breaking therapy, interceptive orthodontics in children, space management, TAD-assisted mechanics, and interdisciplinary orthodontic care.
All procedures are carried out by trained orthodontic specialists and postgraduate residents under expert supervision, ensuring precise diagnosis, individualized treatment planning, and optimal functional and aesthetic outcomes
